Syllabus

All in all, a balanced and fair way of grading. My only question regarding the syllabus is what exactly it means to approach projects "experimentally". There also isn't a list of the films we'll be watching, but I think I like not knowing what's going to come next. 4-6 hours of work per week sounded like a lot at first, but it's really not so bad when considering that watching films will take up a large chunk of that time. As someone who loves to write, I really like the fact that blog assignments and exercises hold so much weight towards our final grades!

  1. That's a great question, Jen. I think an "experimental" approach to our writing will come with more repetition and comfort with the material, but essentially I'm looking for personal, divergent, or exploratory approaches to the topic prompts. These experimental approaches should still always be supported by referencing our material (both topic requirements AND supplements), but should not read like a rote explanation of the textbook. Rather start from the gut! We'll go deeper into the creative side of writing as the semester progresses.
