Dan Introduction + Syllabus Update

Hello,

My name is Dan Lavigne and I am a English major at HCC. I’m very excited for this class as movies have always been a passion of mine. The stuff we will be learning in this class interests me greatly. I am a bit nervous for this semester because I have only taken in person classes so far in my college journey. That being said, I think this will be a fantastic class, and the prospective topics introduced in today's Zoom (IE: Dystopia and French New Wave) excite me greatly! It'll be really fascinating to dive into specific time periods, genres, and artistic movements. I can't wait to critically examine and discuss films, and continue to grow this skill!

As of right now, I feel like our first Zoom as a class was successful. The objectives, arrangement, and grading policy seem fair. I especially like organization of today's brief lesson on the roots of photography and film. I don't have really any questions. If I had a suggestion for a film it would be anything from Akira Kurosawa (I saw his films were available on Kanopy). They are beautiful pieces of art. All in all, the class seems straightforward, and I think the translation to online won't be as alarming as I thought it would be.
